Camping

Go here for more on this series 31 Days Brave.

Do you find yourself doing things for your kids that maybe you wouldn't have before? I do. I am really stretching myself this time. I am taking my son camping. Me! No hubby! I like camping don't get me wrong. I have come to depend on hubby to pitch the tent, make the fire and all that manly stuff. My husband is taking our son first to a cub scout camp out Friday night and then it is my turn to take him to our boot camp family friendly camping trip. Yeah, both events fell no the same weekend. EEEKKKK! My hubby has a commitment Sunday morning where we attend church so that is one reason why the camping aspect is falling on my shoulders. Just part of the weekend anyway. I know we will be fine but I sure do love having a familiar man around that I trust for such outdoorsy stuff. Ya know? You can pray for me! Pray for our weekend. I am really excited to have mom and son time together. I will let you know how it goes.

So, what is the gutsy thing you have ever done with your kids that was out of your comfort zone?

  2. I'll be praying, Shellie! I look at camping as a memory maker, rather than a vacation, and it makes a lifelong impression on our little ones. Have a great time! I think that we learn to depend on God more when we step out of our comfort zone, and we model reliance on God to our children. Thanks for posting!

  3. I just have to say -- you go girl!!! To be honest camping was never my "thing" until I got married. It wasn't something my family did growing up, but my husband has taught me how to appreciate it. Still, I am not sure I would brave it on my own. You are an awesome Mom. Here I wrote about something brave I did with my son: http://www.saraborgstede.com/a-courageous-boy-needs-a-brave-mom/

  4. Have fun! (I will totally pray for you..lol) To answer your question, my oldest (9) likes to run and I need to get in shape. I am thinking of signing up to do a 5K with him. Apparently it would be a 5K for me and a 1K for him... what's the deal with that? ;)

  5. I am afraid I am not a very gutsy person. It took guts to say that! I am willing to try something daring though. Any suggestions? My kids are 30, 24 (married with 1 1/2 year old and 22 still at home. all 3 gutsy boys, one gutsy daughter-in-law, one athletic husband. I would love to shock them by suggesting something brave and unexpected.
