31 Days of Serving Others~Intro

Go here for recent posts on the topic.

Either I am crazy or creatively embarking on an adventure. I personally choose number 2! The Nester has put a challenge out there in bog land. She is asking us to blog about something, ANYTHING for 31 days. Maybe something you are passionate about or something you want to explore or whatever. My first reaction to the challenge was "huh? not moi! no way!" Then surprisingly I shifted from "whaaaaaatttttttt????" to "hum, maybe." I do believe it is a brilliant idea just not sure if it is for me or if I could even do it. Really, I have only been in our new place for 7 weeks! I still need to unpack boxes for the office. My book club is starting Wednesday. I just joined a bible study group and recently was asked to co-lead a group. Yeah, this is not the right time at all! You take all of that and adjusting to a new city rolled up into one giant ball is enough! Why add to the chaos? Right? Plus, what in the world would I G.A.B. about for 31 days? I mean 31 DAYS......eeeekkkkk! Then my thoughts shifted to "would anyone read about it?" Everyone reads the Nester and if you don't, you should! She is all inspiring.

So, that night I climbed into my comfy bed ready to enjoy a full night of sleep. I did sleep but the Lord was tapping on my heart to take the challenge. Only it was more about challenging me in a way that would really make me open to wherever HE chooses to lead me.

God Given, Holy Spirit Led Service For 31 Days!

"Huh? Lord, surely you want me to talk about cooking. I know about cooking Lord! I cook talk about that all day."

Don't get me wrong I do, serve. I volunteer. This is different. This is consciously pushing me to ask the Lord "here I am send me" without knowing everything involved or picking something out myself. Oh boy, this was a huge step. I love to serve. I do. Whom am I to put service in a box or wrap it up in a pretty bow with my own preconceived ideas? This was me standing out on the ledge, eyes closed, ready to jump just not sure where for thirty-one days.

It no longer became about being an interesting cutesy topic that sounded great for the masses but an extraordinary impact for the ordinary individual. That individual being me. The extraordinary impact being wherever the service of serving others takes me. The service could be for a friend, a family member, a neighbor, a stranger or whomever. No limits. Nothing too small or too big. God Given Holy Spirit Led Service.

Soooooooooooo....I honestly don't know what I will be writing about until the actual all inspired event happens for that day. Of course since the Lord laid this upon my heart the other night HE graciously gave me a little bit of a running start. Yes, it has already begun and it has been interesting, atleast for me.

Be in prayer for me. I.will.be.learning.and.growing. OUCH! And here I thought moving to another city was enough of an adventure. The Lord truly has a sense of humor.

  4. Can't wait to see where the Lord will lead you. He has really been stretching me lately to reach out to others -- the homeless, abused, and abandoned. It's been an adventure I wouldn't trade for anything.
